I Heart Me

Yes I do! Sure there are a couple of things I would change but over all I love who I have become. Hmm, so you probably guessed that I did not always love myself, in fact I would go as far as saying that at times I did not even like myself. The reason for that was because I believed what people and one in particular told me; That I was not good enough, not pretty enough, not nice enough, not smart enough… in fact I was simply not enough.

When he left I knew just like Gloria Gaynor that I would survive (somehow) and of all the damage he left behind, the hardest one was putting myself together again…. I needed to put myself on top of the list in order to be emotionally, intellectually, and physically available to others;  and the only way I could do that was to start loving me, for the woman I am and the one  I would become...

So yes I heart me: for having the courage to speak up, to have a voice (sometimes a loud one), making a difference, exploring beyond the boundaries that I set, colouring outside the lines…the list goes on and on.
